What Black Christians Voted For (A)

In California, 70% of black voters, voted for Proposition 8 on Election Day. This was the amendment reversing California’s obnoxious Supreme Court ruling allowing for gay marriage. Californians voted to ban same sex marriage. The statisticians confirm that this amendment could not have passed without the back vote, who as one news source declared, “voted their religion, not their political party.” Blacks who voted were clear on what was at stake, and voted in a way that expressed their moral values. It wasn’t a black or white issue, but the choice was black and white—clear.

Gallup reports that 99% of blacks voted for Barack Obama, for president. I find it quite interesting that the majority of blacks in California voted against gay marriage, but voted for a man who will support pro gay marriage legislation, and as he has already pronounced, will select Supreme Court judges that favor gay marriage.

We could delve into all the reasons and theories for this, but needless to say, there is a contradiction here. Now, this is not a knock on black Americans. The same contradiction could be seen in all people groups of our country. What makes it more pronounced for blacks is the high ratio for which they voted for Obama. 99%! Again, black Americans had clear data when it came to proposition 8. When it came to B. H. Obama, it seems that like the rest of the country, facts did not matter a whole lot. What they had was information from a liberal media that was in love with Barack. They would have had to dig a little further if they wanted a clearer assessment of the huge choice they had to make. Quite frankly, there is evidence that many blacks voted for Obama solely because he’s black. I am not going to argue the validity of that one way or another, what I hope for is this: I hope that should we witness clearly immoral positions being implemented by this President, that black Christians especially, would rise up and shout and say, “Stop it, Mr. President!” I pray that should we experience four years of a president that has little regard for biblical truth and encourages sinful acts, that these black Christians reevaluate their choice, and vote Obama out of office, as they take a stand for righteousness and morality as they did with Proposition 8.
